Job Overview

We are a fast growing DTC startup who strongly believes every single Javy member we hire is a key part of our shared success. You will work with the Head of Marketing and Co-founders to define and implement Javy’s retention strategy. You will have to revamp the current retention strategy across the board (Email, SMS, Push, etc). Once a new foundation is built you will be responsible for building out the retention team. Above all, you'll have the opportunity to shape a key part of the business: strategizing memorable experiences that reinforce why Javy Coffee products are the go-to for fast, easy, and delicious coffee!

 

 

The Position

This new Email and Head of Retention role has your name all over it. Join the Javy Coffee team and help build a collaborative new approach to eCommerce email + sms marketing and more.

 

The right person for this role loves to be entrepreneurial - they think outside the box and are able to concept and develop ideas and programs that will drive repeat engagement and loyalty with the brand. This individual will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the email, SMS and other customer retention programs to support the rapidly-growing online brand.

 

This is a terrific opportunity for an experienced email manager to make a big contribution to a growing marketing team within an organization that values relationships and experiences above all. They’ll form a small team to help execute, but also roll up their sleeves and get hands on as needed along the way. This position will report directly to the head of marketing, and will work directly with the CEO as well as all related departments that can support retention strategies. The ideal candidate will begin as our Retention Manager and grow to the Retention Director role as soon as we hire specialists. 

 

An example of some of the key metrics you’d own: LTV, average revenue per email users, turning shoppers into subscribers, and churn prevention - things that show customers are stoked on our awesome brand.

 

About Javy Coffee

Javy Coffee is a uniquely positioned DTC brand - we’re extra direct - most of all our marketing is done in-house by our group of expert leaders. There’s a ton of potential in this intimate process to get customers inspired and engaged on a different level as we roll out more products and hone in on our subscription model. Our marketing + creative team is small but mighty, and handles all of our design and marketing needs with the help of a few agencies. Responsibilities

  • End-to-end management of email & SMS marketing campaigns, including strategy, planning, segmentation, execution, testing, deployment, analysis and optimization
  • Direct accountability for Javy Coffee’s retention marketing strategy. Core KPIs include email and SMS list growth and engagement rates, LTV, and subscriber retention metrics.
  • Run and optimize Javy Coffee’s referral and loyalty program
  • Lead the implementation and adoption of customer experience and insight tools and data with the support of our analytics team.
  • Build programs that will drive feedback and engagement from our core brand advocates -- insights that will steer the ship of new product development and subscription program improvements.
  • Define personalized customer journeys across the customer lifecycle and purchase cycle with the goal of driving better understanding, stronger customer engagement, community growth, and increased sales.
  • Maintain a pulse on emerging technologies that could influence customer retention strategies and communicate it with the team for implementation.
  • Prepare and present project hindsight analysis and recommendations to leadership and partner teams.
  • Analyze and report on the efficacy of our retention marketing campaigns, and developing reports that can be used by multiple departments to help continuously improve our overall customer communications and relationships
  • Instill best practices into the email and retention programs, including automation, triggered campaigns, template development, dynamic content, personalization, retargeting and more.

 

Skills and knowledge

 

  • 3-5 years experience in email, subscription, lifecycle, or retention marketing in a direct-to-consumer environment, with at least three years focused on loyalty and retention.
  • Ability to recruit, build, and guide a team of internal and external marketing stakeholders
  • Proven track record of running retention marketing programs with measurable results
  • Expert knowledge of direct-to-consumer eCommerce and retention marketing trends and best practices
  • Hands-on experience with at least one ESP (such as Klaviyo, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, etc.) and have created campaigns and automated/triggered programs within the technical capabilities of the platform.
  • Experience with customer data and engagement platforms
  • Experience with Shopify ecosystem a plus
  • Strong quantitative analytical ability and aptitude
  • Extensive experience managing A/B testing roadmap and a strong understanding of test setups and analyses.
  • Strong project management, organization, prioritization, and communication skills with an attention to detail and the proven ability to build relationships and coordinate multiple projects across various teams.
  • Bonus points if you have experience in the coffee subscription industry.
